Mcp Worldbank — independently scanned and version-tracked by SaferSkills.
SaferSkills independently audited Mcp Worldbank (Agent Skill) and scored it 100/100 (green). The audit ran 55 deterministic rules across Security, Supply Chain, Maintenance, Transparency, and Community; it found 0 high-severity and 0 lower-severity findings. The full rule-by-rule trace and per-finding evidence are below. Free, methodology-open.

The World Bank Open Data API. Thousands of development, economic, social, and demographic indicators for every country. Time series going back decades. The canonical source for cross-country comparisons of poverty, education, health, gender, environment, infrastructure. Free, no auth.
Part of Pipeworx — an MCP gateway connecting AI agents to 1857+ live data sources. This is an independent, unofficial integration — not affiliated with, endorsed by, or published by the upstream provider.
For development questions, cross-country comparisons of social indicators, or any "how does country X compare on indicator Y" question, the World Bank's database is the right starting point. Complements IMF (macro/fiscal) with development-specific coverage (WDI, EdStats, GenderStats, etc.).
Common flows:
NY.GDP.PCAP.PP.CD for India.None. World Bank Open Data is fully public, free.
World Bank indicator codes follow a domain.theme.metric pattern:
| Code | Indicator |
|---|---|
NY.GDP.MKTP.CD | GDP (current US$) |
NY.GDP.PCAP.PP.CD | GDP per capita, PPP (current intl $) |
SP.POP.TOTL | Total population |
SE.PRM.ENRR | Primary school enrollment, gross % |
EG.ELC.ACCS.ZS | Access to electricity, % of population |
SI.POV.GINI | Gini index |
EN.ATM.CO2E.PC | CO2 emissions per capita |
Search the catalog when you don't know the code.
World Bank uses ISO 3-letter codes (USA, BRA, IND) plus aggregate codes:
WLD — WorldEUU — European UnionLMC — Lower middle incomeOED — OECD membersSSA — Sub-Saharan AfricaAggregate codes are useful for "how does X compare to its peer group?" questions.
The World Bank also publishes the Worldwide Governance Indicators — six governance-quality dimensions per country, useful as country-risk context alongside event/news data: Voice and Accountability, Political Stability and Absence of Violence/Terrorism, Government Effectiveness, Regulatory Quality, Rule of Law, and Control of Corruption. These live in a separate World Bank source database from the general development indicators above, under codes like GOV_WGI_CC.EST (Control of Corruption, governance estimate) and GOV_WGI_CC.SC (same dimension, 0–100 percentile-style score) — reachable through this pack's existing get_indicator / compare_countries tools, but unguessable without knowing the code, so use the dedicated get_governance_indicators tool for a single country's full six-dimension snapshot (latest year + prior year, for trend).
| Dimension | .EST code |
|---|---|
| Voice and Accountability | GOV_WGI_VA.EST |
| Political Stability and Absence of Violence/Terrorism | GOV_WGI_PV.EST |
| Government Effectiveness | GOV_WGI_GE.EST |
| Regulatory Quality | GOV_WGI_RQ.EST |
| Rule of Law | GOV_WGI_RL.EST |
| Control of Corruption | GOV_WGI_CC.EST |
Each .EST estimate runs approximately -2.5 (weakest) to +2.5 (strongest); the matching .SC code is a 0–100 percentile-style score, higher meaning stronger governance relative to other countries scored that year.
.CD suffix is current dollars; .KD is constant.Add to your MCP client (Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, etc.):

}tools/list at https://gateway.pipeworx.io/worldbank/mcp returns the tools in the table above plus the shared Pipeworx meta-tools — ask_pipeworx, discover_tools, search_within, remember/recall and the rest of the gateway-wide set. So the tool count you see is larger than this table: a single-pack endpoint currently lists roughly 30 shared tools alongside the pack's own. The connection's initialize response states its exact scope, and is the authoritative answer for a given day.
This is deliberate, not multiplexing by accident. The meta-tools are what let a scoped connection answer a question this pack does not cover — via ask_pipeworx, which routes across the whole catalog — without you adding a second MCP server. There is currently no way to mount a pack endpoint without them; if the extra schemas cost you more context than the routing is worth, connect to the full gateway once rather than to several pack endpoints.
Or connect to the full Pipeworx gateway to get every pack's tools listed directly, instead of just this one's:
{
"mcpServers": {
"pipeworx": {
"url": "https://gateway.pipeworx.io/mcp"
}
}
}Both URLs reach the same gateway and the same 1857+ data sources. The only difference is which pack's tools are listed directly; ask_pipeworx reaches all of them from either one.
curl -X POST https://gateway.pipeworx.io/v1/tools/worldbank_get_country \
-H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
-d '{"country_code":"US"}'No account needed for the first calls. Inspect any tool: GET https://gateway.pipeworx.io/v1/tools/worldbank_get_country. Find one: POST https://gateway.pipeworx.io/v1/tools/search_packs with {"query":"..."}.
@pipeworx/mcp-worldbank is a local stdio bridge to the Pipeworx gateway: your MCP client starts it with npx, and it forwards every call to the same https://gateway.pipeworx.io/worldbank/mcp endpoint shown above. It needs network access; there is no offline mode.
{
"mcpServers": {
"worldbank": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "@pipeworx/mcp-worldbank"]
}
}
}Without a key it calls anonymously, capped at 50 calls a day. A free account raises that to 200 a day: get a key at https://pipeworx.io/signup and add "env": { "PIPEWORX_API_KEY": "<your key>" } to the server entry. The key is sent as a Bearer token, the same way a hosted connection sends it, so calls are metered and billed exactly as they are there.
It lists only this pack's tools by default. Set PIPEWORX_META_TOOLS=1 to also list ask_pipeworx and the other gateway-wide tools.
Behind an HTTPS proxy: Node's built-in fetch does not read HTTPS_PROXY by default. Newer Node releases honour it when NODE_USE_ENV_PROXY=1 is set; check your Node version's documentation.
Instead of calling tools directly, you can ask questions in plain English — this works on the pack endpoint above as well as on the full gateway:
ask_pipeworx({ question: "your question about Worldbank data" })The gateway picks the right tool and fills the arguments automatically.
