The U.S. Department of Treasury's Fiscal Data API. Daily Treasury cash, public debt outstanding, federal receipts and outlays, customs revenue, exchange rates, and savings bonds redemption data. The actual numbers behind "the federal deficit" and "the national debt." Free, no auth.

For macro questions about the US fiscal stance — debt level, daily cash position, monthly receipts, customs revenue — Treasury Fiscal Data is the authoritative live source. Where FRED publishes monthly aggregates, Treasury publishes the underlying daily ledger.
Common flows:
treasury_debt → outstanding total broken into intragovernmental vs. public-held.treasury_customs_revenue({year: 2024}).treasury_outlays({fiscal_year: 2026, function: "Net Interest"}) -> month, fiscal-year-to-date and prior-year-to-date dollars for each budget function, plus total net outlays, total receipts and the deficit (computed as outlays minus receipts and labelled as such). Every response names the statement date, the period, and the basis (net outlays, nominal dollars, fiscal year Oct-Sep). Covers fiscal years 2015 onward; earlier years, or a statement not yet released, return found:false with the reason rather than an empty list. Matching a published headline total: month vs fiscal-year-to-date and net-by-function vs by-agency are different bases.treasury_auction_results({security_type: "Note", term: "10-Year"}) → high yield, bid-to-cover ratio, CUSIP, offering/accepted amounts for the most recent settled auction. Covers bills, notes, bonds, TIPS, and floating-rate notes (FRNs).Used by the trade_bilateral_analysis compound for tariff context.
None. Treasury Fiscal Data is fully public, free, no key.

exchange-rate or frankfurter packs.treasury_auction_results's term filter matches the security's ORIGINAL nominal term (original_term in the response) so "10-Year" still finds it — use term/original_term in the response to tell a fresh issue from a reopening.Note/Bond with an inflation-indexed or floating-rate flag. Pass security_type: "TIPS" or "FRN" and the tool resolves this for you; the raw API's own security_type:eq:TIPS filter returns zero rows.high_yield_pct is null for bills — use high_investment_rate_pct (the bond-equivalent yield) or high_discount_rate_pct (the discount rate actually bid).Add to your MCP client (Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, etc.):

}tools/list at https://gateway.pipeworx.io/treasury-fiscal/mcp returns the tools in the table above plus the shared Pipeworx meta-tools — ask_pipeworx, discover_tools, search_within, remember/recall and the rest of the gateway-wide set. So the tool count you see is larger than this table: a single-pack endpoint currently lists roughly 30 shared tools alongside the pack's own. The connection's initialize response states its exact scope, and is the authoritative answer for a given day.
This is deliberate, not multiplexing by accident. The meta-tools are what let a scoped connection answer a question this pack does not cover — via ask_pipeworx, which routes across the whole catalog — without you adding a second MCP server. There is currently no way to mount a pack endpoint without them; if the extra schemas cost you more context than the routing is worth, connect to the full gateway once rather than to several pack endpoints.
Or connect to the full Pipeworx gateway to get every pack's tools listed directly, instead of just this one's:
{
"mcpServers": {
"pipeworx": {
"url": "https://gateway.pipeworx.io/mcp"
}
}
}Both URLs reach the same gateway and the same 1857+ data sources. The only difference is which pack's tools are listed directly; ask_pipeworx reaches all of them from either one.
curl -X POST https://gateway.pipeworx.io/v1/tools/treasury_customs_revenue \
-H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
-d '{"limit":12}'No account needed for the first calls. Inspect any tool: GET https://gateway.pipeworx.io/v1/tools/treasury_customs_revenue. Find one: POST https://gateway.pipeworx.io/v1/tools/search_packs with {"query":"..."}.
@pipeworx/mcp-treasury-fiscal is a local stdio bridge to the Pipeworx gateway: your MCP client starts it with npx, and it forwards every call to the same https://gateway.pipeworx.io/treasury-fiscal/mcp endpoint shown above. It needs network access; there is no offline mode.

}Without a key it calls anonymously, capped at 50 calls a day. A free account raises that to 200 a day: get a key at https://pipeworx.io/signup and add "env": { "PIPEWORX_API_KEY": "<your key>" } to the server entry. The key is sent as a Bearer token, the same way a hosted connection sends it, so calls are metered and billed exactly as they are there.
It lists only this pack's tools by default. Set PIPEWORX_META_TOOLS=1 to also list ask_pipeworx and the other gateway-wide tools.
Behind an HTTPS proxy: Node's built-in fetch does not read HTTPS_PROXY by default. Newer Node releases honour it when NODE_USE_ENV_PROXY=1 is set; check your Node version's documentation.
Instead of calling tools directly, you can ask questions in plain English — this works on the pack endpoint above as well as on the full gateway:
ask_pipeworx({ question: "your question about Treasury Fiscal data" })The gateway picks the right tool and fills the arguments automatically.
