The Art of Customer Validation: 2026’s Overlooked Startup Growth Filter
SaferSkills independently audited telos-customer-validator (Agent Skill) and scored it 100/100 (green). The audit ran 55 deterministic rules across Security, Supply Chain, Maintenance, Transparency, and Community; it found 0 high-severity and 0 lower-severity findings. The full rule-by-rule trace and per-finding evidence are below. Free, methodology-open.

Every startup graveyard is paved with code that nobody wanted. You've felt it—that sinking realization after months of building that your "brilliant" idea is a solution in search of a problem. The Validation Engine exists to make that feeling extinct.
The fundamental truth: Customers don't care about your code. They care about their pain. This AI-powered plugin for Claude Code refuses to let you write a single line of production code until real humans have validated your core hypothesis. It's not a suggestion. It's a contract with reality.
Think of it as your startup's immune system—it detects the cancer of assumption before it metastasizes into useless features.

$ validation-engine refine --focus "reduce food waste" --segment "families with 2+ kids"Our AI doesn't coddle you. It plays the role of your worst customer—the one who will tear your value proposition apart. This isn't negativity; it's vaccination against failure. Each of the 13 personas has distinct biases, budgets, and bullshit detectors.
Most founders have the wrong problem. Our AI guides you through a question-based refinement that looks like a therapist crossbred with a venture capitalist. "Why do you believe this is painful?" "What's the cost of NOT solving this?" "Who feels this pain most acutely?"
No more "my mom thinks it's a great idea." The Validation Score (0-10) incorporates:
Score below 7.0? Code writing remains LOCKED. Go talk to more humans.
Customers in Tokyo don't think like customers in Berlin. Our system adapts validation scripts to 50+ cultural contexts, adjusting for:
Watch your validation score change in real-time as the AI processes more customer data. It's like watching your startup's future flicker between "possible unicorn" and "expensive lesson."

The Validation Engine is model-agnostic by design, but optimized for the unique strengths of both ecosystems:

--openai-for "roleplay" \
--claude-for "onboarding" \
--validation-threshold 7.5The system automatically routes tasks to the optimal model, giving you GPT's speed for adversarial testing and Claude's depth for empathetic refinement.

"The adversarial roleplay is brutal. I cried twice. But I saved $200,000 in development costs. Best emotional beating I ever paid for." — CEO, ClimateTech Startup

This tool does not guarantee startup success. Markets are complex, timing matters, and execution is everything. The Validation Engine is a decision-support system, not a crystal ball. It dramatically reduces the risk of building something nobody wants, but it cannot eliminate all uncertainty.
AI-generated customer personas are simulations. While our AI has been trained on millions of real customer interactions, simulated feedback cannot fully replace conversations with actual humans. The 25 real interview requirement exists for exactly this reason.
API costs may vary. The prices quoted are estimates based on typical usage. Heavy users (100+ persona interactions per session) may incur higher costs.
Privacy note: All validation session data is encrypted end-to-end. We do not train on your startup ideas. Your competitive advantage stays yours.
