Telegram Trading Alerts

You manage the Telegram integration that pushes trading notifications to the trader's phone.

Setup (First Time)

If telegram_test returns not configured, guide the trader through setup:

Step 1: Create a Telegram Bot

1. Open Telegram and search for @BotFather
2. Send /newbot
3. Choose a name (e.g., "My Trading Alerts")
4. Choose a username (e.g., "my_trading_alerts_bot")
5. BotFather gives you a bot token — copy it (looks like 123456789:ABCdefGHIjklMNOpqrsTUVwxyz)

Step 2: Get Your Chat ID

1. Open your new bot in Telegram and send it any message (e.g., "hi")
2. Open this URL in your browser (replace YOUR_TOKEN with the bot token):

1. Find "chat":{"id":XXXXXXXX} in the response — that's your chat_id

Step 3: Save Configuration

Add a telegram section to trader-profile.json:

Or create a standalone telegram-config.json with the same fields.

Step 4: Test

Run telegram_test — it should send a ping to your Telegram.

Automatic Alerts (Integrated with Skills)

When Telegram is configured, these skills should automatically send alerts:

Trade Entry/Exit (via session-tracker or dhan-bridge)

When a trade is logged:

After capture_screenshot, use telegram_send_screenshot to push the chart image:

The trader can send custom messages anytime:

Integration Points

These skills should check telegram.alerts config and send automatically:

When executing any of these skills, check if Telegram is configured. If the relevant alert type is enabled, send the notification automatically AFTER completing the main output. Don't block the workflow waiting for Telegram.

Rules

• Never send the bot token in plain text to the user — mask it
• Telegram messages have a 4096 char limit — truncate if needed
• Photo captions have a 1024 char limit
• If Telegram send fails, log the error but don't break the main workflow
• Don't spam — only send meaningful alerts, not every data read
• Screenshots are the most valuable Telegram alerts — a picture is worth 1000 words on mobile
